The World of Eldross

Eldross was once a peaceful world, ruled by an undying King and Queen, Rohen and Elonia, who the celestial creator, Aetera the Incarnate Queen, chose. The world was a simple place with five continents and a rigid social structure. The long-lived Incarna were the rulers, while Mortals—those with short lifespans—served them. This was the law, a system that had lasted for thousands of years.
But peace came at a cost:
stagnation. A feeling of unease spread, and some Incarna and Mortals began to experience strange visions or "echoes" of other times and places. The King and Queen dismissed these as madness, but they were a sign that change was coming.

The Great Upheaval

The catalyst for this change was a Mortal named Kannan of Ondras. He refused to accept Incarna rule and challenged the King and Queen. What exactly happened is lost to history, but the result was a cataclysmic event. Kannan's death created a magical storm—the Nexus—which tore the five continents apart, sending islands floating into the sky. The central island of Chrossus, along with the King and Queen, vanished into the storm.

This event, known as
the Great Upheaval, changed everything. The magical energy from the Nexus infused the world, and both Incarna and Mortals began to manifest new powers. Many Mortals who died in the chaos were reborn as the Risen, a new form of immortal being. To some, Kannan was a hero who freed them from a tyrannical system. To others, he was a troublemaker who destroyed the world's order.

The New World

In the aftermath of the Great Upheaval, chaos reigned. With the old rulers gone, new factions emerged and began to rebuild.
The Vendaeros Empire rose from the clouds, attempting to restore order by force. Their crusaders searched the shattered world, encountering new cultures and spreading their authority.

The Incarna themselves were changing. They no longer shared the same beliefs, leading to the world’s first true war between the Vendaeros and the newly formed Velkaria. The war ended abruptly when a mysterious outbreak, the Withering Plague, forced all nations into isolation.

During this time of quarantine, new technologies and magical practices developed. The Landonians harnessed Arcane Fire, the Tentetsu Incarna changed in mysterious ways, and the people of Tahlea created a new global currency, the Tahle.

One hundred and sixty-five years after the Great Upheaval, the Nexus storm subsided and the remains of Chrossus returned. Its Incarna, now calling themselves the Ashari, were a new breed. They no longer sought to rule Eldross but instead preached a message of sovereignty and alliance. They spoke of the multiverse beyond the Nexus, a place of both great knowledge and unimaginable danger.

Today, many of the old beliefs are gone. The Asharen island of Luna Insulam has become a launch point for expeditions into the Nexus, opening up a new age of exploration and adventure. But old tensions remain. Some Incarna still believe in their right to rule over Mortals, while many Risen and Mortals view Kannan as a prophet who gave them their freedom.

The world of Eldross is now a place of limitless potential, full of new lands, magical discoveries, and the mysteries of the multiverse just waiting to be explored.
